THE TEAM:

In the 1970s, "Car Craft" magazine, already a beloved publication for automotive enthusiasts, further solidified its engagement with the drag racing community by introducing the "Car Craft All-Star Drag Racing Team." This initiative was more than just a promotional stunt; it was a genuine acknowledgment of the most outstanding talents and personalities in the drag racing scene. Selected based on performance, innovation, and contributions to the sport, the team comprised drivers, crews, and even influential behind-the-scenes figures who made notable impacts that year. With the '70s being a golden era for drag racing, this accolade became a coveted recognition, often compared to an All-Pro selection in traditional sports. Celebrated at annual ceremonies, these All-Star events not only recognized the heroes of the drag strip but also fostered a sense of community and camaraderie among racers, fans, and industry professionals. The "Car Craft All-Star Drag Racing Team" of the 1970s was a testament to the magazine's commitment to the sport, celebrating its vibrancy and the individuals who made it shine.

THE COMPANY:

"Car Craft" magazine, established in the 1950s, stood as a touchstone for automotive enthusiasts, particularly those passionate about hot rods, muscle cars, and hands-on automotive ventures. With its inception during the rise of custom car culture, "Car Craft" resonated deeply with grassroots enthusiasts, seamlessly merging in-depth technical articles, DIY how-tos, and expansive coverage of pivotal automotive events. As it chronicled the ebbs and flows of hot rodding and muscle car evolution in America, it maintained a unique niche, focusing on practical, budget-conscious projects that appealed to both casual hobbyists and fervent gearheads. Beyond the pages, the magazine cultivated a devoted community, evidenced by events like the "Car Craft Summer Nationals," fostering camaraderie and a shared love for automotive craftsmanship. Yet, the digital age ushered in challenges, leading to transitions in ownership and format. Despite ceasing its print edition in 2019, "Car Craft's" enduring legacy persists in the digital realm, underscoring its indelible mark on the automotive landscape.
